Critics/Comments Wanted

Since I'm unable to say exactly what I would like on the amazon.com forums to my critics since I am censored due to the filters, I'd like to point out the hypocrisy of David Marshall and his butt buddy, J. R. Fraser; Marshall's only ignorant little defender.

Neither of these "men" answered my challenge to refute my review of Marshall's book. Marshall declined and so did that retarded little bitch named J.R.

Even last year Marshall made a direct statement that he wanted critics on the amazon.com forums.

Well, here I am - a serious critic - and here is his refusal to even read my rebuttal.

Since these two ignorant assholes don't want to take up my challenge (even the very author of the book himself!) I challenge anyone to attempt to counter my rebuttal of David Marshall's book, The Truth Behind the New Atheism.

Feel free to email me or comment on the review itself any rebuttals.

And please, don't take the pathetic approach that David Marshall and J.R. did in talking a ton of shit without backing anything up. If you do I will just respond with more insults just like I did to those pussies.

Like I told them, put up or shut the fuck up.

Any takers?

And finally to David Marshall and that little bitch J.R. (not to mention he's completely illogical and acts like he knows what he's talking about but anyone can clearly see what he says is untrue) ....

UPDATE! 11-30-08

I thought I'd go ahead and post here the topic I started at the amazon.com discussion forums correcting several of the lies and distortions that David Marshall has been saying since we began our back and forth about a year ago.

The Gifted Writer says:

Lie # 1:

David Marshall continously claims that his book has yet to be effectively refuted, nor has anyone successfully argued against the "main" arguments in his book.

FACT:

The truth is that I have written a long chapter by chapter rebuttal of his book on my blog (link in my profile). And yes I did argue his main points and I am highly confidant that I refuted them.

Other posters on the amazon forums, such as Tim Beazely (again sorry if the name is not spelled correctly), have pointed out many of the same errors that I have.

Another fact is that on the amazon forums I have debated one such "main" argument with Marshall, and that was his claim that atheism is what caused/influenced communism and the atrocities the communists committed. I showed why this was incorrect, and several other posters made comments that they were unconvinced of Marshall's arguments as well.

Lie # 2:

Marshall has stated that I have made mistake after mistake in interpreting and reading his book. Therefore, no one should go read my review or listen to what I have to say.

FACT:

In my original review, written a year ago, I did make a few mistakes (though only about 4-5) and after learning of these mistakes I went to fix them. Those few errors have been fixed for nearly a year now. Since then, I've decided I got tired of Marshall claiming that no one had refuted or addressed the main arguments in his book so I reconstructed my entire review from scratch, though I included pieces of the old review in several places, in an attempt to make my arguments more detailed and to make doubly sure that all quotes and arguments made by Marshall were accurate so I could shut him up once and for all with his "you made so many errors" nonsense.

Thus far, even Marshall has stated that someone told him how my review was "profitable," though despite the kudos Marshall still insists that I am still wrong in interpreting his book and ineffective in refuting his arguments, even though (as far as I'm aware) he has not read any of the new review. How crazy is that???

The fact is that since I have redone the entire review all past blunders are irrelevant. It seems to me that this is simply Marshall's low blow tactic he uses in an attempt to discredit me. He has done this for the entire year that we have been going back and forth. To be honest it's getting a little old...especially since I've corrected all errors, and he refuses to even read the new review. Now it's getting rather pathetic.

Lie # 3:

Marshall tries to discredit me lately by claiming that I cursed at him and am very rude to him.

FACT:

This is more of a distortion than a lie. The truth is that I did curse at Marshall after I was getting frustrated that he would not answer my objections, and kept just talking down to me when I asked him to give me an answer about how atheism - a negative - could influence someone. I also think Marshall is hypocritical because when I first began trying to discuss his book with him he continuously insulted me and talked down to me with no provocation on my part. All I asked was for him to answer some of my objections. Granted, some of my objections were incorrect at that time, but that hardly warrants such an attitude and personal attacks. It would have been much more professional for him to just point out what I got wrong instead of insulting me continously as he did.

Personally, I think it shows my great will to have lasted this long without going off on Marshall any sooner with the despicable attitude he gives anyone who disagrees with his book, and points out errors.

Lie # 4:

Marshall has claimed on these forums that he cares about truth and that he likes to discuss things with readers of his book.

FACT:

To tell the real truth, it's very apparent that Marshall is not interested in truth at all, but reinforcing his distorted beliefs. He doesn't seem very interested in having an honest discussion of the errors in his book; when they do come up he is either dismissive, insults the person pointing out an error in his book, or claims the person did not read the book!

Marshall's denial of truth is very apparent when you see that on these forums when Marshall and I were discussing the opinions of Richard Dawkins and what Dawkins calls "child abuse." Marshall claims that Dawkins is trying to keep parents from teaching their kids religion when this claim is completely false. Dawkins refutes that claim right in his book The god Delusion, and I also have other quotes of Dawkins stating the complete opposite several years before the god Delusion was ever published. This proof is in my review, and also posted in these forums (either the god Delusion forums or the Truth Behind the New atheism forums).

Lie # 5:

Marshall commented on my new amazon.com review of his book and claimed that I still didn't understand his arguments.

FACT:

This is just an outright lie. Anyone who has read his book can read my brief layout of his main arguments and see that I am correct. This is just Marshall's attempt to discredit me, and it also seems as if this is his dirty tactic to avoid discussing his arguments. If he never admits that his critics properly understand his arguments, he doesn't have to bother trying to refute his critics' rebuttals! At least this is what I think is happening.

Unlike Marshall, I care about truth very much. I despise anyone who denies reality...denies truth. I hope I set the record straight since Marshall loves repeating these same distortions and lies over and over again in a desperate attempt to save that dwindling reputation of his on these forums.

In my opinion, if Marshall is truly about finding truth, then I think he should stop with all the games and debate up front with all of his critics. Stop the insults, stop the distortions and the "you didn't read my book" excuses. Open and honest discussion is the best way to find truth. Marshall's refusal to do this is evidence of his fear of truth and denial of reality.

I guess those are the main distortions. I find it dishonorable and dishonest for someone to claim that they seek the truth when their actions say the total opposite. Even when mountains of evidence contradict his ideas he insists on continuing to believe the distortions that he does.

Until Marshall admits his errors, I will continue to hold the opinion that he is a liar. Why do I feel this way? Simple. It's only logical, once someone informs you of facts that contradict your beliefs, to change your opinions on things. It's only close-minded individuals who continue to ignore facts in favor of their biased and incorrect view of the world. Therefore, when someone is in possession of the truth (it has been stated to Marshall many times), and they continue to claim the opposite, I would call that lying. With Marshall being aware of the truth, but still telling his distorted stories, I would consider him a liar.

  1. Obviously that guy's a putz who's not going to respond to your challenge because he knows he'll fail. Remember that actions, not words, display our beliefs. If he really believed his position was sound he'd readily engage you.

How about Ray Comfort? Don't agree with a thing he says but he seems pretty eager to discourse with atheists at any opportunity. Even had the cojones to name his blog Atheist Central...

  2. Hi JD, thanks for the comment.

"If he really believed his position was sound he'd readily engage you."

    That's very true.

Actually I have debated Ray Comfort before, but my problem with him is his immense stupidity and close-mindedness. I refuted his claims during a debate we had but he kept throwing out the same old creationist arguments, one after another. Clearly there was no getting through to him. He even named a blog post after me, "Arizona Atheist." I was flattered.

  3. I saw that blog post on Ray's blog! That's actually some high publicity right there -- getting him to react like that.

I don't think that Ray Comfort cares to be "gotten through to" he makes a great deal of money on his publications. There are plenty of willing fodder who want to buy his stuff and spread it around; it is an extraordinary opportunity to make money off the credulous masses via the vehicle of religion.

That's the saddest part about the whole thing...
