I was just watching Democracy Now's exclusive broadcast about the New York Times reporter David Barstow who recently won a Pulitzer Prize for exposing the military's pro-par propaganda media campaign. Sadly, this was largely unreported on all news outlets (gee... I wonder why...).
The story begins 11 minutes into the program if you'd like to watch it.
It's nice to know that not all reporters are mouthpieces for the government and actually adhere to some journalistic integrity and honesty in reporting the truth to the people.
Amy Goodman also noted a protest by a large group of people in New York who were protesting the treatment of the mentally ill in prisons after Rikers Island prisoner Clarence Mobley died after a physical altercation with prison guards (He had been awaiting psychiatric evaluation). This saddening news reminds me of a post I wrote about the treatment of the mentally ill in today's prisons (among the other horrible abuses that occur).
