Yet again, instead of any argument against my positions I am lied about and smeared, this time by the completely illogical "Bruce Bain" (who I sometimes suspect is David Marshall himself using another name). Instead of one argument against my book review of Answering the New Atheism, Bain reposts things I said in the distant past to the few liars and assholes I've run across on Amazon.com in retaliation and complete frustration over their continuous lies and insults about me. Though Bain never mentions this, and instead distorts the picture to make it look as if all I do is insult people and am rude on a constant basis and for no reason. Lies!
Let me tell you a little something about Bain. His posts in Amazon discussions are continuously voted as "unhelpful" and he often writes these long meandering, nonsensical posts - not to mention the absurd formatting! If you've seen his posts you know what I mean! If you haven't seen them here's an example:
You're not even able to begin to see his supposed "argument" until you scroll down some more! You basically have to sift though all that mess just to see what this numb nuts has to say - which usually isn't much, if anything, at all! But I've already written a little about Bain before and how annoying he is. The guy has no knowledge about anything, never puts up a coherent argument (if he even tries you have to decipher it through the absurd formatting of his posts), and to top it all off, he is on my shit list for his contributions to the smear and lying campaigns by David Marshall and J.R. Fraser.
As I've mentioned these smear campaigns and lies in the past, I'm about at the end of my rope here with this bullshit. As I've demonstrated in the links above, I've been lied about and smeared a few times in just the last month!!! And some might wonder why I went overboard and lost my tempter and went off on these assholes (as Bain so eloquently demonstrates - sarcasm anyone???) I'm fucking sick and tired of this shit. Nothing but lies, discrediting campaigns, and no counter arguments against my positions are ever posted! And that's all I've ever asked for! A respectful dialogue! But can any of these morons possibly do this? It appears that they can't. I've tried for two years now! In fact it was January of 2008 when I posted my first message on an Amazon forum to David Marshall asking him about my review of his book and even then in his first reply to me he initiated the personal attacks! It wasn't as vulgar as his later attacks have been, but it was a personal attack nonetheless (at least that's how I perceived it as I mentioned in my reply to him, in which I was perfectly polite, despite his rude demeanor). Here is a screenshot of this from my post exposing these lies, which has long sense been deleted by Marshall, no doubt to hide the fact that he was rude to me from the start:
As I've amply demonstrated I've been on the receiving end of an immensely dishonest discrediting campaign for a solid year and a half now. I've truly had it up to here (!) with this bullshit - which is exactly what it is!
Are christians that scared their crap will be exposed that they have to engage in huge discrediting campaigns and lies against atheists??? I've refuted David Marshall's book, which is what kicked this whole thing off, and I think these christians, and friends of Marshall, are pissed about it. What a bunch of pathetic, immature jackasses.
Been there. Done that. I just make sure it never comes to that again. In my experience you got to change your approach, because they sure as hell aren't going to change theirs. It can be very difficult figuring out how to do that, but having things at the level you've described just plain sucks. I haven't read the links to be able to give specific advice, but I feel for you.

Hi Ben, thanks for the comment. I completely agree to some degree, because sometimes I do feel fire must be fought with fire at times. But I suppose if your adversaries are unethical they will use anything you do or say against you, even if they stooped to that level to begin with, so using that approach might not be the best. Since those conversations, when I have corresponded with those asses I have remained civil, even though they've continued insulting me. Though that doesn't stop them from continuing to bring up the past. I just don't really participate at Amazon much anymore because of it, which might have been their goal in the first place. To drive me out so I don't point out how wrong they are all the time. But luckily there are others who are willing to debate the trash so I don't have to.
ReplyDeleteBain is, indeed, an oaf, but don't dismiss his important contributions to Amazon book reviews. I'm currently engaged in an enormously amusing spat with him in the review-comments section for one book, and it makes my day when this idiot takes the bait and replies (in a language broadly reminiscent of English). My only regret is that it takes him several weeks to do so, presumably stringing his sentences together by juxtaposing randomly-chosen words in a frankly incoherent order.
