The Science Knowledge Quiz: How Well Will You Do?

Recently I took the Pew Research Center's Science Knowledge Quiz and got 12 out of the 12 questions asked correct, which puts me in with the 10% of the population who were able to do the same. The quiz was part of the Pew Research Center's new study of science and its impact on society. You can currently view the entire report here.

How well did you do? Please post your scores below in the comments!

Simply for future reference:

  2. 100% here too :)

granted it was pretty easy... multiple choice and true/false usually is. At least one I wasnt sure of (antibiotics killing viruses) so I guessed.

  3. I barely graduated High School from small town Texas and got all 12 correct. Honestly, going into it I thought i would do very bad, but the questions were actually very, very easy. Maybe I should go to college now if this is what passes for science questions these days.

  4. 12 out of 12, sad that this is the level of question needed to break it down in the US. I wonder if this was done by country...

  5. It seems to me that this is more of a test after the fact. Do you believe that only 10% can get all 12 questions correct? It almost seems like a test for arrogance or naivete.

  6. Hi douglasphelan, I think this was just a general test to see how much the general public knows about science, and judging from the results, they know very little. It's just more evidence of the poor nature of our science programs in this country. I think if you're like me, and the others who commented and got all correct, we all read about science and try to keep up to date on it's findings. Most people, I think, don't do this and so would fail even the most basic of science tests, just as this study demonstrated.

We need better science programs and we have to stop these damn creationists from messing with the science curriculum.
