  1. As an atheist, don't you think it is a little hypocritical to use Lucifer as an adjective since you don't believe in God or the Devil? Just an observation. I get the context you are using it in. You are exploiting the nation's fear of evil and Satan to further push your propaganda. Don't bash those that believe in God, then use biblical characters yourself, unless you want to be called hypocritical.

  2. Magnus,

I see you're still posting nonsense to my blog... Because you've actually managed not to spew any hateful comments this time I haven't deleted your comment.

In the very first post of The Lucifer Effect I explained my reasoning behind my choice of the title. I wrote,

This is the first in a monthly series of posts in which I will highlight various forms of police brutality and/or abuse of power. I decided on the name "The Lucifer Effect" because it describes what often happens to people when they are put in positions of power over others. Yes, I borrowed the name from Philip Zimbardo's 2007 book called The Lucifer Effect: Understanding How Good People Turn Evil; sorry I couldn't be more creative, but I felt his title really captured the essence of the evil that is displayed when cops harm people. The fictional character, lucifer, is the most popular personification of that evil so I thought that title would be perfect.

Also, just because I'm an atheist doesn't mean I can't use religious language as a metaphor to get my point across. Moron.
