Nearly a year and a half ago a blogger who goes by the name of Makarios wrote a blog post that was so ignorant I blasted him for it. Now, about a year later he's written another blog post at his new blog repeating the exact same crap he did in his previous post. He writes,
The Arizona Atheist is convinced that cameras are watching him. The "Man" is out to get him, or so he thinks. As he drives down the street, this atheist is certain that he’s seen cameras move for no other reason than to find out where he’s going. The guy even blames Red Light Cameras for rear end collisions.
Chris Hitchens has a similar issue but this time it really is The MAN upstairs who’s bugging him. Chris can’t stand it that God sees everything that he does.
Personally? It makes me chuckle.
“He’s watching you poo Mr. Hitchens!”
Who cares if the police are watching? Really - who cares? Ya, you know who cares. It’s those who are doing or who would like to do something wrong. They’re the same ones who hit the brakes every time they see a speed trap ahead. They need to do that because without being watched they can’t make themselves do the right thing.
I say, “Let em watch." The only time that the law will have an interest in me is when being a Christian becomes a crime. And if that happens in my lifetime they can come and get me. I want to live my life so transparently, so consistently that it will be impossible to not convict me.
The following is a copy of a note found written in the office of a young Pastor in Zimbabwe, following his martyrdom for his faith in Jesus Christ. [...]
Once again he refuses to link to my blog wherein I cite several studies backing up the fact that red-light cameras are the cause of numerous accidents. The only difference between the last post and the new one is he accuses me of believing the cameras are “watching” me. Once again he provides no direct quotes and he's wrong. No I do not believe the cameras are targeting me, but they are recording me along with everyone else who passes by them.
This ignoramus then has the audacity to ask “who cares” if people watch us?! For one thing, personal privacy is one aspect of a truly free society. This is why the fourth amendment was written to outlaw “unreasonable searches and seizures.” These cameras are high up on poles which means they can peer inside anyone's vehicle and it's also possible with the network of cameras to track peoples' movements. This doesn't sound like a “free” society to me. Aside from these facts, there is also the tremendous hypocrisy factor. All over the U.S. people are being arrested for recording the police going about their jobs out in the open where the government tells us this “public” space holds no “expectation of privacy.” So let me get this straight. They can record us 24/7, but when we try to record them it's a crime. Right. Anyone who has their head on straight ought to see the constitutional and moral problems with this, but dullards like “Makarios”/”Thesauros” seem to be content with the government coming into our homes while we're sleeping and snooping around “making sure” we're doing nothing illegal. Hell, president Obama has already made it “legal” to detain american citizens without cause indefinitely! Maybe one of these days “Makarios”/”Thesauros” will get his wish and there will be a camera in his face while he's taking a shit.
Makarios seems to care little about despotism here on Earth since he is the slave to the divine tyrant.
ReplyDeleteThe martyred Zimbabwean pastors words are unverifiable. A google search finds that quote all over the net but variably attributed to a Rwandan in 1980, or simply "an African". Can't find his name, the exact date, the place, the reason, who the killers were or any other details. I call bullshit.
ReplyDeleteI was born and raised in Zimbabwe and those words are not the words of a black Zimbabwean. They would probably have either Shona or Ndebele as their mother tongue and poetic English eloquence like that would only come perhaps from years in a foreign seminary. It's an issue of deep familiarity with lyrical English. (No doubt I'll be told it was the work of the Holy Spirit, speaking through him! LOL!)
Andy, I agree.
ReplyDeleteStew, Thanks for looking that up for me!
