I have written a lot about this subject in the past but here is another example of the authoritarianism and hypocrisy of the state.
As the above video noted, the police and government are simply attempting to strong arm the populace into abandoning any kind of protests against wrongful police actions, which are legion. If people aren't aware of these incidences nothing can be done about it.
I am stunned that the government actually calls the video taping of police “eavesdropping.” Orwell must rolling in his grave!!! As the video said, the police can record you to their heart's content but if you pick up a recording device...on goes the cuffs. Blatant hypocrisy. This is especially true since the government (at least where I live) is watching you go about your daily lives 24-7 with their network of spy cameras! Since I wrote that post about a year and a half ago I've noticed the number of cameras like those I snapped pictures of have multiplied. They can be found on nearly every single intersection light pole nowadays.
Arresting people who film police is not only entirely hypocritical but I'd say this is also technically illegal because of the constitutional law that says that people have no expectation of privacy out in public spaces. But, as always, that which is “illegal” if done by a private citizen is “legal” if done by the government. Just as people are arrested if they steal, the government freely steals from everyone (except the other rich people of course). Just as police continuously murder and abuse people without hardly ever a slap on the wrist, people who assault and kill others are routinely punished.
