The U.N. to Vote on Palestinian Statehood

It's been a long time coming but the U.N. might finally recognize Palestine as a state. This isn't acceptable to Israel or the United States, who tried very hard to put pressure on the U.N. to not allow Palestinians any recognition. According to the above news source most U.N. members are sympathetic to the Palestinians and will likely vote for statehood, which should hopefully allow the Palestinians to put Israel on trial for war crimes at the International Criminal Court, and I believe it would be a step in creating a two state solution. Though, I don't believe this is entirely fair, since this would be akin to a group breaking into your home, forcefully taking possession of it, and agreeing to allow you to live in half of it! But politically I see it as a noble attempt to at least have some peace in the region if it were ever achieved. This attempt by the U.S. also shows their true motives. About a year after Obama's election he said he wanted to achieve a two state solution, but now he's trying to stop the Palestinians from even being recognized as a state, let alone helping them to actually achieve it. With Israel's constant attacks, like the one recently witnessed the last week which saw hundreds of innocent civilians die, many of them children, or Israel's continuing control over the Gaza strip with their embargo and controlling of its airspace, I don't see how this solution is possible.
